I shot this video on Tuesday afternoon using the iTimeLapse app on my iPhone. The app is an easy way to make time-lapse films of almost anything.

To get the footage I put my phone on a tripod using a Glif, then pointed it out a Times-Dispatch newsroom window onto East Franklin Street. The app shot a photo every 20 seconds, and it took about 700 photos — or about two hours of continuous shooting — to get a 45-second movie.

A word of caution, though: If you have an iPhone 4, be sure to download the latest update. Otherwise the app will crash when you try to render your movie.
